Our systems are named for the depth of the frame in millimetres, because that is how a window is specified in every country that takes windows seriously — and because a number is harder to argue with than an adjective.

Which one you actually need
Rühle 82
New build
The default for anything new — a custom home, an addition, a fourplex. Triple glazed, deep enough to carry real thermal performance, and the system most of our work is built in.
Rühle 92
Passive House
Specified when the building is chasing a certification or a genuinely low heating load. Krypton fill, the deepest frame, the lowest U-value. It costs more and it is worth it only if the rest of the envelope has earned it.
A word on honesty here. A 92 mm window in a house with an uninsulated attic is money set on fire. The window is one element in an envelope and it cannot outrun the weakest part. If the rest of the building isn't ready for a Passive House window, we will tell you to buy the 82 and spend the difference on insulation.
Green Build is a cash flow argument, not a savings argument
The honest arithmetic on high-performance glazing is that the payback period on energy savings alone is long — measured in decades, not years. Anyone selling you triple glazing on the promise of your hydro bill is doing arithmetic they hope you won't check.
The real case is different and it is stronger. On a rental or a multiplex, better glazing improves the operating expense line, which improves the debt service coverage ratio, which changes what a lender will do. On an owner-occupied house, it buys you a room that is quiet and has no cold edge — which is a thing you experience every day for thirty years and cannot get any other way.
