Every window is made to your opening.
Which is why we don't publish a price list. A bathroom transom and a twelve-foot wall unit are the same product and nothing like the same number — and anyone quoting you a per-window price before they have measured is guessing.
What we will tell you on the phone, before anyone comes out, is whether we are the right company for your job. We work on whole-floor and whole-house projects, and on new builds.
If you need one or two windows swapped, a good local replacement contractor will serve you better and faster — and we will say so on the call rather than after you have given up an evening.
What actually changes in the house
The cold edge goes
You can sit beside the glass in January. The room stops having a zone you instinctively avoid, and the sofa can finally go under the window where it always should have been.
The condensation goes
Warm-edge spacers and a properly broken frame mean the perimeter of the glass stays above the dew point. No morning puddle on the sill, and no black mould in the corner of the reveal.
Toronto houses, and what each one needs
The 1920s semi. Original wood double-hungs, openings that are out of square by a centimetre or more, and a brick reveal that has moved for a hundred years. Every unit is a bespoke measure. Anyone quoting you off a standard size chart has not looked at your house.
The post-war bungalow. Aluminium sliders with no thermal break, streaming with condensation every winter morning. The single highest-return window replacement in the city, and usually a straightforward retrofit into a sound opening.
The Victorian row. Often in a heritage conservation district, which governs what the street elevation may look like. Frequently the rear can be anything you like. We will read the district's guidelines with you before we design anything.
The 1960s side-split. Large fixed picture windows with failed seals — that fog between the panes is a dead insulating unit. Usually a good candidate for a fixed Rühle 82 at the front and tilt-and-turns everywhere else.
Common questions
How much will my windows cost?
There is no price list, and any company that hands you one is quoting a size nobody has measured. Every unit is fabricated to the opening, so a small transom and a full-height wall unit are the same product at very different numbers. We quote from measured openings, usually within a few days of the site visit. What we will tell you on the phone beforehand is whether we are the right company for the job.
Are these worth it compared to a budget replacement window?
Not always, and we will say so. If you are selling in two years, buy the cheaper window. If you are staying, the difference you are buying is a room that is quiet and has no cold edge in February — every day, for thirty years. That is not a payback calculation. It is a quality-of-life purchase, and it should be made honestly.
Will you replace just one or two windows?
Usually not, and it is worth saying plainly. Most of the cost of a small job is getting a crew to the house, so a one- or two-window order carries a disproportionate share of it. For work at that scale a local replacement contractor will serve you better and faster. We will tell you that on the phone rather than after a site visit.
How long does the install take?
Most Toronto houses are done in two to four days once the units are on site. The units take six to eight weeks to arrive from signed order. Nobody is living without walls for a month.
What happens if something fails in year seven?
You call us. We fabricated it, we installed it, and the warranty is ours. There is no distributor to route you through and no manufacturer on another continent to wait on. That is the entire reason to buy from a company with a Toronto phone number instead of a catalogue.
